Story generation time varies based on the amount of data you are sending to the Narratives for Microsoft PowerBI service. In most cases, stories will be written in less than one second, or most likely around 500 milliseconds.
Generation time will begin to increase:
- As more x-axis points are added. For example, a story about a company's daily sales over 25 years (365 days * 25 years = 9,125) will take significantly longer to write than plotting a company's monthly sales over 25 years (12 months * 25 years = 300).
- As more measures or dimensions are added. For example, a story about a company's yearly sales by 17 products over 20 years (20 years * 17 products = 340) will take longer to write than plotting a company's yearly sales by 5 products over 10 years (10 years * 5 products = 50)
The increase in generation time is due to increased data processing. Future versions of the product will greatly reduce this latency.
